Pioneer Festival

Spend some time in the 1800s June 7th and 8th at Historic Point Basse in Nekoosa. The annual Pioneer Festival includes demonstrations of period crafts, period foods, and period entertainment.  Admission is $5/adults and $2/children.

10th Annual Bowl for Dreams

Evergreen Lanes in Nekoosa will be hosting the Tri-City Children’s Dream Foundation's 10th Annual Bowl for Dreams.  This scotch doubles bowling tournament will be March 15th & 16th and March 22nd & 23rd.  Along with the bowling fun there will be a raffle with great prizes!

Christmas in the Past

Easter Events

The Easter Bunny is coloring his eggs and getting ready to head out March 31st. Hope he brings spring with him!

Here are some of the activities for Easter around the area.

Saturday, March 23rd - Breakfast with the Easter Bunny 7:30AM-11:30AM at the Retirement Community of Nekoosa.  $7/adults $3/kids 6-12, 5 and under FREE.

Saturday, March 23rd - Bunny Run 5k Run/Walk 9AM start at Goodfellas in Nekoosa. Registration and more info here

Saturday, March 23rd - Nekoosa Area Easter Egg Hunt 11AM at the Alexander Middle School. Ages 0-10.

Saturday, March 23rd - Children's Easter Party 11AM-1PM at American Legion Post 54 in Marshfield. Admission is a non-perishable food item, games, crafts, lunch, and a visit from the Easter Bunny

Sunday March 24th - 60th Annual Palm Sunday Choir Concert 3PM at Our Lady of Peace Church in Marshfield.

Monday March 25th - "THE LAST SUPPER" - A DRAMATIC RECREATION 7PM at Wesley United Methodist Church in Marshfield. Free event.

Friday March 29th - Elks Lenten Fish Fry 4:30PM-6:30PM at Elks Lodge 693 in Wisconsin Rapids.

13th Annual Garden Walk

The Wood County Master Gardener Volunteers are holding their 13th Annual Garden Walk "Down the Garden Path" Saturday July 14, 2012 from 9:30AM to 3:30PM. The Walk, rain or shine, will feature six gardens in Wisconsin Rapids, Nekoosa and the Town of Rome, as well as the Art Show and Garden Treasure Sale. Tickets are $8/advance and $10/at any of the garden's gates. Get your tickets at the UW Extention Office or several local businesses.

Giant Pumpkin Fest Time

If you like to see the biggest fruits and vegetables then you need to get to the Nekoosa Giant Pumpkin Fest.  Farmers and growers from across the Midwest will be there not only with pumpkins but squash and watermelons and more, looking to win and set new records with their extra large produce.

Street Dance

Nekoosa Walleye Days

Nekoosa Walleye Days is an annual contest to fishing on the Wisconsin River. From March 19th to April 17th fish caught between the Nekoosa Dam and Petenwell Dam can be entered. The Registration Station is Dragging A Line Bait And Tackle, 708 Point Basse Avenue in Nekoosa.

A special Kids contest will be held April 9, the Jim Freeman Charity Challenge will be April 13th and the Heaven's Devils M.C. Poker Run is on April 16th.

Jump in Lake Petenwell

On January 1st become a Polar Bear, and help raise money for the Children's Miracle Network.

Be at the Lure Bar and Grill in Nekoosa at noon and brave the waters of Lake Petenwell. All participants must raise $25 to join in and will receive a t-shirt. Many other prizes as well. All funds raised stay in Central Wisconsin.

19th Century Christmas

This Saturday you can go back to the 1800's and see what Christmas was like.

December 18th from 10AM to 4PM join in the fun Historic Point Basse Heritage Hollyday and see costumed participants prepare for the holidays at this historic Wisconsin site. There will be baking, period decorations, old-time craft demonstrations, ornament making, stolling carolers and sleigh rides.

Nekoosa Giant Pumpkin Fest

Despite the flooding, the 13th Annual Nekoosa Giant Pumpkin Fest will be held October 2nd and 3rd. But the location of the festival has moved from Riverside Park to Nekoosa Business Park.
